The Tellico Top Notes is a 25 piece band that focuses on playing classic big band music from the 30s and 40s and some more current tunes as well.  We play music from bands like Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and others.  Although the make-up of our band has changed over the years we focus on playing  the  big band instruments – Saxophones, Clarinets, Trumpets, Trombones, Piano, Drums, Guitar and String Bass, as well as both male and female vocalists.

Our goal is to offer the opportunity for former high school and college musicians to play their instruments in an informal setting, and perform for the assisted living and church circuit. We are basically an amateur group although some members have more musical experience than others.  If you can play well enough to handle the arrangements and you enjoy playing, please contact us. Tryouts are informal and usually involve participating in a few rehersals and talking to the band director. Generally, trumpets, saxes, trombones, and clarinets  always have openings. For practical reasons we are limited to the number of Rhythm instruments and singers we can have, and those are determined on a case by case basis.

We play for a variety of events both inside and outside of the Village, usually within about a 20 mile radius. We have a number of assisted living facilities that ask us to come back every year. We are a non-profit organization, however, we accept donations from those organizations who can afford it, to help cover some of our costs. We always have people come up after the performance to tell us about their own musical background and thank us for keeping this kind of music alive.

We rehearse at the Tellico Village Yacht Club (5th floor) on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month.  Rehearsals start at 6:45 pm and last until sometime between 8:30 and 9:00.
